Onward Oceans Center
For generations the Ballast Point facility in Cat Harbor hosted family gatherings, boater celebrations and community events, bringing vitality and energy to Catalina’s West End.
However, for more than a decade the facility has sat empty. we are taking it over and building something truly unique on the west coast. We need your help.
What we’re doing
A multi-use facility for education, connection, events, and ocean stewardship.
Onward Industries is building a unique multi-use space to host education, community engagement, and outdoors recreation opportunities for deserving kids and grownups. Our programming lights a fuse.
EDUCATION
In coordination with our educational partners, local nonprofits, and the Catalina community, our nonprofit offers youth-centered programming that gets kids and their grownups together outside and learning in a beautiful marine environment. We believe education starts when kids get their hands dirty and have fun.
WORKSHOPS & EVENTS
The facility will be a focal point for Southern California science, arts & culture events, performances and workshops. Onward will bring together passionate professionals from a variety of disciplines to foster new connections and caring for our marine environment and for a sustainable future.
community Space
Situated on the water with a floating dock & access by boat or road via Two Harbors, the facility has a proud history serving the local boating community and Catalina visitors. Onward Oceans continues this legacy with a community space and access for local clubs, groups, and orgs across Southern California.
Pirate Lab!

Did you know Cat Harbor, Catalina, is the final resting place of the famous Chinese pirate ship the Ning Po? At one time the Ning Po was the oldest vessel in continuous use in the world, and she was considered a scourge of the Pacific for governments and navies. We’re memorializing the history with wall-to-wall hands-on pirate experiments!
